Beginning Friday night, Fountain Hills and Mohave Valley River Valley were tied for second place in the 3A West Region, but after the Falcons' 22-6 victory, they clinched the second seed in the 3A playoffs and will face Safford at home.
River Valley will travel to Coolidge to play in the first week of the playoffs. Cameron Estes had 29 carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was a 40-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the Falcons.
The Dust Devils' Chad Lucchino, the leading rusher for the past two seasons in the West Region, ran for 285 yards on 25 carries and had a 7-yard touchdown.
Rob Rossfeld scored the late touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 9-yard run to solidify the win.
