Host Basha hung on for a 4-3 victory over Mesquite on Thursday night in Division I baseball action.

Ronnie Querry had the game winning solo home run in the fifth inning for the Bears (5-2).

Querry went 2-for-3 to lead Basha. Taylor Waters added a triple and two walks for the Bears.

Baseball

Williams Field 13, Tempe 3: Host Williams Field easily beat Tempe High after jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning. Skyler Wengert and Branden Amenta had three RBI apiece to lead the Black Hawks (8-2). Conner Mathers added a home run and 2 RBI.  Adam Messer led the Buffaloes with a home run and two RBI.

Hamilton 8, Casa Grande 2: Host Hamilton got a great performance from Cody Bellinger. Bellinger accounted for half of his teams’ hits as he went 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Huskies (6-1). Kyle Pechloff added a three run home run in the first inning as Hamilton took advantage of two Casa Grande errors.

Saguaro 10, Paradise Valley 0: Saguaro rode the big arm of Luke Eigsti to a 10-0 five-inning run-rule win. The sophomore was brilliant, throwing 61 pitches in his one-hit shutout, fanning 8 and walking only one. Matt Mara led the offensive attack going 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Shane Stansbury went 1-for-1 with two RBI and three walks. Brett Adams also walked three times. Saguaro starts the Cleats Classic on Saturday hosting Bradshaw Mountain at noon.

Arcadia 15, Poston Butte 4: Arcadia scored a combined eight runs in the first two innings and added five more in the fifth inning. Josh Arndt drove in a career-high five runs for the Titans, Jimmy Roren and Tyler Murphy both had three RBI, and Chris Paulson homered and drove in two runs behind winning pitcher Luke Pine. Wyatt Pattyson hit three doubles and Sal Martinez had two RBI for Poston Butte.

Softball

Mountain View 11, Mesa 0: Host Mountain View got a combined no hitter from Valerie Kaff and Sia Iongi. Sidney Ryan, Kaff and Teddy Yellowman had two hit apice for the Toros (9-1). Kayla Jackson added a double and two RBi while Page Roberts finished with RBI for Mountain View.

Red Mountain 15, North 0: Host Red Mountain had nine hits and 13 runs in the first inning alone as they cruised to victory. Alex Wiley went 3-for-3 with three RBI, Jordan Beck finished 2-for-2 with three RBI and Tori Sotelo went 2-for-2 with three runs scored to lead the offensive explosion for the Lions (10-1). All starters for Red Mountain had at least one hit.

Desert Mountain 23, Notre Dame Prep 1: Andy Wellins won her third game of the season and hit a double and a triple to lead the visiting Wolves (4-1).  Sammy Pederson added 4 RBI for Desert Mountain.

Tempe Prep 25, Gilbert Christian 1; Xavier 10, Cibola 3.

Girls Tennis

Hamilton 9, Basha 0: Candace Rizziwiec, Jaime Foster, Marissa Gautier and Katie Hildreth each won both their singles and doubles matches as the Huskies swept the Bears.

Boys Volleyball

Perry def. Hamilton 28-26, 25-21, 25-17: Alex Berghorst had 10 kills as the visiting Pumas swept past the Huskies. Jalen Cross added five blocks for Perry (3-1).
