Apache Junction cruised to a 34-10 victory over visiting Scottsdale Coronado in a 4A East Sky Region game.

A game that should have been a showcase of two of the top five 4A running backs in Apache Junction's Shane McCullen and Coronado's Travis Huff, was turned into a one man show by the Prospectors' Cody Morrow.

Morrow first took the spotlight with a 26-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Daniel Ambrosiso. In the third quarter, Morrow kicked a 56-yard field goal. Morrow ended the night scoring a total of 16 points.

As for the star running backs, McCullen ended the night with 122 yards for Apache Junction (5-3, 1-1) and Huff had 114 yards for the Dons (2-5, 0-2).

For the most part, the Prospector defense held Huff in check. Huff gained most of his total yards on a 60-yard touchdown run in the third quarter on the Dons' first play from scrimmage in the second half.

The same story went for McCullen, whose bulk of 122 yards came on a 56-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown run.

Both teams held their own defensively, with the teams combining for a total of five interceptions.

The first interception of the game came on Coronado's first drive. Dalton Hoch returned his pick for 36 yard score to give the Prospectors the early 7-0 lead.

Skyler Glessing, who threw the pick, finished the night 10 of 22 for 113 yards and three interceptions.

Ambrosiso had an even rougher night for Apache Junction, completing just three passes on 12 attempts for a total of 55 yards and two picks. Ambrosiso did finish with two touchdown passes to offset his two picks.
