The Notre Dame baseball team forged a lead late and held on in the final inning to keep its season alive for one more game in a 4-3 win over No. 1 Seton Catholic in a Division II baseball elimination game on Tuesday night at Camelback Ranch-Glendale Stadium.
The Saints will play No. 4 seed Tucson Sahuaro in another elimination game on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Camelback-Ranch.
Notre Dame scored single runs in the fourth through seventh innings to erase Seton's early 1-0 lead. Seton scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it interesting, but the Saints.
Danny Stolper got the win by throwing 6 2/3 innings and scattering six hits to go with the one run allowed.
Seton's MJ Villegas took the loss despite striking out 12 Notre Dame hitters. He also allowed four runs and five walks.
Each team had six hits. Nick Affronti hit two triples for the Saints in the win. Villegas was also 3-for-3 with a double and run scored, and Alec Eddy had two RBIs for Seton.
