Tom Horyza has been chosen as the new boys basketball coach at Notre Dame Prep, athletic director Monica Barrett said in an email.
Horyza was coach of Veritas Prep the past three seasons, amassing a 41-29 record over that span. He led the Falcons to playoff appearances in each season, the first three in the program's history.
He will also work as an assistant athletic director at the school.
Notre Dame finished 17-11 last season and lost to Cactus Shadows in the first round of the Divison II state tournament.
Five of the team's top seven scorers from a season ago return, although point guard Nicky Sarandrea (9.3 points, 2.9 assists, 2.6 steals) and forward Grant Martinez (6.1 points, 8.7 rebounds) must be replaced.
Former Basha coach Brad Pinter was offered the job but turned it down, according to multiple sources.
