Valley Vista football will have its annual passing league tournament Saturday at the school, 15500 W. Parkview Place, Surprise.

The event is open to the public and pool play starts at 3 p.m.

Passing league play is seven-on-seven with a center, quarterback and four or five wide receivers - teams can line up a running back, but rushing plays are not allowed. Defensively, teams suit up four or five defensive backs and two or three linebackers. Quarterbacks have four seconds to throw and there is no pass rush.

The players in the trenches aren't left out. They have a separate big man competition, which will start at 5:30.

Teams participating are: Valley Vista, Willow Canyon, Dysart, Shadow Ridge, Moon Valley, Desert Mountain, Sunrise Mountain, Westview, Kellis, Tonopah, Northwest Christian, Desert Edge, Verrado, Coconino, Central, Paradise Valley and Wickenburg.
