Outlook: It was not enjoyable for Chaparral last week.

After losing three starters for the season because of an off-field incident, the Firebirds went to Tucson and got beat by Sabino 28-6. The loss cost Chaparral its No. 1 ranking in 4A-I. You can bet coach Ron Estabrook has pushed his Firebirds this week to get them back on track. Remember, one loss doesn’t mean Chaparral can’t rebound and still win the state title.

Pinnacle got off to a terrible start to the season with an inexperienced team. A 40-14 victory last week over Willow Canyon might help right the ship for the Pioneers, but they probably don’t have enough on either side of the ball to contend with the Firebirds.
