East Sky Region champion Arcadia is headed to the 4A Division II playoffs with a full head of steam.

The Titans capped off an undefeated regular season with a 56-7 pounding of rival Coronado Friday night in Phoenix, and will roll into the postseason with a 10-0 record. Arcadia ran an overpowering rushing attack at, over and through the beleaguered Dons' defense, compiling an impressive 536 yards on 55 carries.

The Titans scored touchdowns on their first five possessions of the game as they sprinted out to an overwhelming 35-0 halftime advantage, leaving little doubt that they were the superior team.

Leading the way for the Titans’ ground attack game was quarterback Alec McDuffie, who carried 10 times for 128 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Parker Howell, who rushed 10 times for 124 yards. Running back Casey Reynolds also had two touchdowns — both in a 21-point Arcadia second quarter — as part of his nine-carry, 94-yard evening.

Junior running back Matt Beltran churned out 90 yards on 13 rushing attempts for Coronado, including a 57-yard touchdown burst around left end in the third quarter.

Senior quarterback Andy Klein completed 9-of-18 passes for 131 yards in his final game for the Dons, but was intercepted twice in the first half.

Coronado wide receiver J.P. Blakey was the game’s top receiver, hauling in five catches for 108 yards. Arcadia attempted only one pass the entire game.

The Titans will host a first-round playoff game Thursday.
