Q.C. boys, girls win East Sky cross-country meet

Sherod Hardt finished in first place Friday in the East Sky Region boys cross-country meet at Sereno Park in Phoenix to lead Queen Creek to victory. The Bulldogs finished with 53 points, followed by Perry (61 points) and Arcadia (71 points).

Hardt finished the 2.9-mile course in 14 minutes, 37 seconds, followed by Arcadia’s Kevin Rayes (15:10) and Higley’s Andrew Meyers (15:53).

Queen Creek finished three runners in the top eight to capture the girls title.

Ashley Workman (19:08) finished third, Vanessa Lunt (19:50) fifth and Karina Gneck (20:08) eighth.

Perry’s Taylor DeLaveaga won with a time of 18:11.

Arcadia’s Tess Berghoff (18:24) finished second.
