The Seton Catholic girls topped visiting Camp Verde, 63-47, Friday night to advance to the 3A state tournament semifinals.
The Sentinels had a balanced scoring effort, led by Jenny Churosh with 12 points. Lindsey Warburton and Emily Bryant each scored 10 points. Camp Verde’s Amy Showers scored a game-high 24 points.
Seton will play Kayenta Monument Valley at 7 p.m. Friday at Glendale Arena.
In other 3A girls action, Tuba City defeated Chino Valley, 46-41, and Monument Valley defeated Eagar Round Valley, 63-45.
3A BOYS
Tuba City Greyhills defeated Sedona Red Rock, 55-41, and Seton Catholic defeated Holbrook, 47-41, in state tournament action.
2A BOYS
Top-seeded Scottsdale Christian used a 19-5 firstquarter spurt to defeat Tucson Desert Christian, 73-37, in the first round of the state tournament. Tim Maiden scored 14 points.
In other 2A boys action, Yuma Catholic defeated Phoenix Northwest Christian, 78-42; San Carlos defeated Mayer, 46-20; and Arizona Lutheran defeated Sells Baboquivari, 51-48.
2A GIRLS
Scottsdale Christian rode a dominating performance in the first half to beat visiting Yuma Catholic 34-27 in the first round of the state tournament. The Eagles’ Wendy Woudenberg scored 14 points.
In other action, Phoenix Christian defeated St. Gregory, 36-34; San Carlos defeated Teec Nos Pos Red Mesa, 72-48; Tucson Pusch Ridge Christian defeated Phoenix Arizona Lutheran, 43-31; and Thatcher defeated Sanders Valley, 48-21.
