VX Roundup 12/1: Trio carries Mountain Pointe past Marcos

Khari Holloway led host Mountain Pointe past Marcos de Niza with a game-high 25 points Thursday night.

Jordan Bellamy added 21 points and Austin Witherill contributed 19 points to lead the Pride (3-0). Avery Brunson led the Padres with 22 points and Devin White added 18.

Mountain Pointe led by 20 in the fourth quarter but Marcos outscored the Pride 26-17 in the fourth quarter to make the final score more respectable.

In other boys basketball action, Nyial Watson finished with 21 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists to lead Tempe past host-Coronado, 71-57. Jack Carrethers added 17 points and three steals for the Buffaloes. Nicholay Zelenski and Beau Pixley led Coronado with 20 points each.

Poston Butte held on for a 74-69 win over Phoenix South Mountain. Kyle Davis led all scorers with 24 points for the Broncos (6-2). Jalen Richard added 20 points for Poston Butte.

Girls Basketball

Gabrielle Evans led Arcadia with 19 points as the Titans beat Williams Field, 70-42. Andrea Goulette added 16 points and Kylie Herd finished with 14 for Arcadia (5-1). Williams Field was led by Delia Allen who finished with 15 points.

Boys Soccer

Jesse Aleman, Cody Schultz and Ryker Seifert each scored twice as Gilbert shut out Glendale Mountain Ridge 10-0. Charlie Dukes, Emmanuel Sastillo, Justin Shephard and Kahlin Gonzalez scored a goal each for the Tigers (2-0).

Girls Soccer

Danesh Naghibzad and Ashley Adam scored a goal each as host Scottsdale Christian beat Horizon Honors 2-1 in overtime in girls soccer match on Thursday. The game was scoreless at halftime, but Adam and Naghibzad broke through in the second half and overtime to slip past Horizon Honors.

Nicole Stevens, Ashley Dahl and Ainsley Warner scored a goal each to lead Perry past Desert Ridge 3-0. All three goals were scored in the second half for the Pumas (1-1).
