Mesa High didn’t go out of state this time to find its next head football coach, but did go across the Valley to get its man.

The school will announce today that Glendale Independence coach Kelley Moore will guide the Jackrabbits this fall, a source confirmed Monday.

Moore has coached the past five years at Independence, posting a 38-17 record in that span.

The Patriots were 6-4 in his first season in 2002, the school’s first winning season since 1982.

The past four seasons Independence made the playoffs.

They were 9-2 this past season under Moore.

Moore’s career record is 121-60-0. He replaces Dennis Parker, who resigned in January to take a job at Texas Lutheran University.

Mesa was 7-4 last season.
