Could this be a big season for Cactus Shadows? Coach Chad DeGrenier thinks so. When he took over two years ago, the Falcons failed to win a game.

Last season, they made the 4A-II playoffs. DeGrenier believes they can go much further this season.

It all starts for Cactus Shadows with the strong arm of quarterback Phillip Aholt.

"Offensively, we have the guys in the right spots," DeGrenier said. "Hopefully, we can take advantage of that."

Raymond S. Kellis is opening its first varsity season tonight. That unknown commodity bothers DeGrenier.

"It's scary, DeGrenier said. "I went and watched their scrimmage. They are a one back set shotgun. They have some good athletes.

"I don't where our defense is. It's one of the unknowns."

Gametime: 7 p.m.

Address: 5802 E. Dove Valley Road, Cave Creek

2005 records: Raymond S. Kellis (did not play), Cactus Shadows 5-6

Last year's result: Did not play
