Brophy left no doubt that it is ready for the playoffs.

The Broncos scored on all eight of their first half possessions as visiting Brophy rolled to a 52-7 victory Friday over Pinnacle.

No. 2-seed Brophy completed its season a perfect 10-0 and will host No. 15 Mountain Pointe next Friday in the Division I playoffs.

"This was important game for us regardless of how the playoffs shook up," Brophy coach Scooter Molander said. "I think this was (our best game of the season)."

Pinnacle (8-2) ended the regular season on a sour note as it suffered a second straight loss. The Pioneers fell to No. 6 and will host No. 11 Cibola next Friday.

"When you watch their offense, it is like a hot knife through butter," Pinnacle coach Dana Zupke said. "We couldn't stop them."

The maestro on this night was Brophy's Tyler Bruggman. The junior quarterback misfired on his first pass but completed 13 of his next 14 throws, which included five touchdown strikes of 14, 58, 24, 14 and 17 yards.

"We had a good week of practice and it showed (Friday)," Bruggman said.

Bruggman finished 13-of-15 for 216 yards all in the first half as Brophy sat most of its starters in the second half.

"What I like about Tyler is that he is a student of the game," Molander said. "Our offensive line gave him tons of time to throw."

Pinnacle has to regroup but Zupke felt like his team would be ready for the playoffs.

"I give my kids credit because they had a pretty positive attitude all the way through this game," Zupke said. "A lot of people would be screaming at their teammates and folding, and that never happened on our sideline no matter how bad it got."

Brophy dominated from the opening series as Ryan Castellani intercepted a pass and returned it 32 yards for the game's first score.

"We came out and played well," Molander said.

On the other end of Bruggman's touchdown passes was a trio of receivers including Frederick Gammage, Clarence Clark and Devon Allen.

Gammage caught six passes for 79 yards and two touchdowns while Clark hauled in three passes for 76 yards and two scores. Allen snagged three passes for 59 yards and a TD.

Leading the Brophy ground attach was D'Amani Grayer. The running back had a 1-yard TD run and finished with 76 yards on 14 carries.

"We don't really worry what the rankings are," Bruggman said. "We just wanted to have a top 4 seed for the state playoffs and that's it."

Pinnacle just hopes to get another opportunity against the Broncos.

"I would love to see them again because I think they are going to be playing in the state championship," Zupke said.
