Chandler Hamilton figures to have one of the state’s top offensive lines this season and a member of that returning group has decided to stick around locally to showcase his talent in the future.
Huskies offensive tackle Patrick Jamison gave a verbal commitment earlier this week to play football in 2008 at Arizona State University.
Jamison, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound senior, started last season for the defending 5A Division I state champs. He is one of four returning starters on the offensive line from last year’s title team. Hamilton coach Steve Belles said Jamison has the tools to be a solid player for the Sun Devils based on what he’s seen the last 1 1/2 years.
"He has great feet, and is physical," Belles said. "He’s got that nasty streak in him, too, once the game starts. I think ASU graduates a lot of players at his position after this year so it’s a great fit for him."
Jamison is the second Hamilton player in the last week to make a verbal commitment to a Division I school. Linebacker Elliott Harper (6-1, 230) gave a commitment to Nevada. Harper started on defense last year. He was the team’s second leading tackler (101) and added three sacks and three fumble recoveries.
