It took a while for Gilbert’s boys soccer team to score, but in the end the result was more of the same.

Locked in a 0-0 tie with visiting Highland, the Tigers’ Ryker Seifert scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute to beat the Hawks 1-0 on Friday.

Coming into this match, Gilbert had outscored their opponents by a combined score of 19-1. Nearly halfway through the second half versus Highland, though, the Tigers found themselves in a scoreless battle.

That all changed when Seifert played a long ball wide and his shot from 18 yards out found the back of the Hawks’ net.

From there, Gilbert goalkeeper Hayden Rus made three saves and recorded his fourth shutout of the year to help the Tigers (5-0) remain undefeated.

With the loss, Highland dropped to 3-4 overall.
