The latest boys basketball rankings, updated on Jan. 9:

Division I

1. Corona del Sol 15-1

3. Brophy 13-3

4. Pinnacle 16-3

5. Desert Mountain 10-4

6. Cesar Chavez 14-2

7. Red Mountain 14-4

9. Desert Vista 13-6

10. Boulder Creek 11-3

Chaos this week below Corona del Sol, which continues to prove itself as the Division I favorite. Basha lost to Highland, but doesn't drop because Pinnacle and Cesar Chavez also lost this week. Brophy has been very consistent this season and quietly has moved all the way up to No. 3. Desert Mountain has won six in a row and had an impressive win against Pinnacle this week to jump from unranked to No. 5. Red Mountain beat Mountain View and is also playing well. The Toros drop out of the rankings, and Desert Vista is also trending that way. Both teams have top-5 ability, but aren't playing to that potential right now.

Division II

1. Peoria 11-1

2, Amphitheater 16-3

3. Kellis 12-1

4. Fairfax 14-3

5. Nogales 11-3

6. Paradise Valley 14-2

7. Salpointe 12-3

8. Arcadia 14-5

9. Queen Creek 11-0

10. Saguaro 13-4

The top-3 remain the same, with Fairfax moving up a few spots to No. 4 by beating North and Salpointe last week. Paradise Valley is up to No. 6 after an impressive win over Arcadia, which drops the Titans down to No. 8. Salpointe lost to Fairfax but defeated Cesar Chavez, which gives it a small bump up to No. 7. Queen Creek is still undefeated and had a good win over Saguaro last week to move up to No. 9, and the Sabercats drop to round out the top 10. Tempe and Apollo are both hot and on the cusp of joining the rankings.

Division III

1. Gilbert Christian 12-4

2. Holbrook 19-1

3. Window Rock 10-1

4. Thatcher 15-1

5. Fountain Hills 12-3

Gilbert Christian got back on track by winning three straight last week and stays atop the rankings. Window Rock lost its first game of the year to fall slightly to No. 3, flip-flopping with Holbrook. Thatcher sticks at No. 4, and Fountain Hills is back in the rankings after blowing out Scottsdale Christian. Valley Christian drops out.

Division IV

1. Orme 6-0

2. Phoenix Country Day 17-2

3. Desert Christian 13-3

4. El Capitan 7-1

5. Arizona Lutheran 12-4

Orme takes over the top spot even though it hasn't played very many games. Phoenix Country Day lost twice last week to drop to No. 2. Desert Christian and El Capitan hold steady in their spots, while Arizona Lutheran jumps in at No. 5 after solid wins over Valley Lutheran and Phoenix Christian last week.
