12/13 - Jaguars down Buffaloes for first East Sky win

Ashley Galadin scored 19 points as host Desert Ridge defeated Tempe, 46-36 Friday night to notch its first-ever 4A East Sky Region win.

Sam Enderle finished with 14 points and a school-record 17 rebounds for the Jaguars (2-6). Amber Price led Tempe with 14 points.

HIGHLAND 68, PHOENIX CARL HAYDEN 24: The host Hawks (7-3) defeated the Falcons in a 5A nonregion game. Highland’s Sarah Hays led all scorers with 19 points while teammate Amanda Vinard scored 13.

SETON CATHOLIC 76, FOUNTAIN HILLS 21: Tina Wirth scored 31 points as the host Sentinels (6-2, 2-0) trounced the Falcons (1-6, 0-2) in a 3A South Region game. Mary Placido added 13 points, seven assists and six steals and Amy Riter had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Seton.

PAYSON 60, PINNACLE 36: The visiting Longhorns (6-2) used a strong second half to defeat the Pioneers (4-2) in a 4A non-region contest. Carly Welch led Pinnacle with eight points.

CHAPARRAL 59, ARCADIA 43: Molly Schlander had 17 points to lead the Firebirds (9-2) over the visiting Titans in a 4A East Sky Region game. Desiree Sulit and Brit Pihl had 10 points each for Arcadia.

GLENDALE APOLLO 53, NOTRE DAME PREP 41: The host Saints (1-6) struggled against the Hawks in a 4A Desert Sky game. Amanda Blunt led Notre Dame with 12 points while teammate Kirsten Conroy added 11.

GILBERT 57, CAMELBACK 47: Kelly Carlucci had 19 points and Lindsey Diaz had 17 as the host Tigers (3-6) defeated the Spartans in a 5A nonregion matchup.

SAGUARO 44, CORONADO 34: The host Sabercats beat the Dons in a 4A East Sky Region game. Amanda Flynn had 15 points and Jessica Hammer scored 12 for Saguaro (5-6, 2-0). Stephanie Harper had 12 points for Coronado.


Tied going into the fourth quarter, the visiting Mustangs (5-1, 2-0) were able to pull away from the Toros (4-5, 2-1) to win a 5A East Valley Region game. Teammates Alisha Moreno and Ashley Moore led all scorers with 19 points for the Mustangs, while Brooke Jackson led Mountain View with 17 points.


The visiting Thunder (5-1) defeated the Huskies in 5A non-region play. Kanisha Garrett-Carpten scored 11 for Desert Vista while Monique Bribiescas added 10 points.

RED MOUNTAIN 75, SKYLINE 16: The visiting Mountain Lions had no problem with the Coyotes (0-10), leading 30-0 at the end of the first period. Kayla Pedersen scored 21 and Nicole Childers finished with 17 points for Red Mountain.

MARCOS DE NIZA 53, TUCSON CANYON DEL ORO 47: The visiting Padres (7-5) defeated the Dorados in a 5A non-region matchup. Sarah Amos had 14 points and seven rebounds for Marcos de Niza.

PHOENIX WASHINGTON 37, MCCLINTOCK 25: Angel Etsitty had 12 points for the Chargers (1-6) as they lost a 4A Skyline Region contest to the visiting Rams.

GLENDALE IRONWOOD 78, DESERT MOUNTAIN 50: Erin Greenberg had 17 points as the visiting Wolves (2-8) fell to the Eagles.
