Roman Lunsford rushed for three touchdowns as Phoenix St. Mary's defeated Yuma 33-9 in a 5A game Friday at St. Mary's.

The Knights controlled the game on the ground and were also aided by a 65-yard punt return by Josh Felton.

St. Mary's broke the game open by scoring 20 unanswered points in the second and third quarters, getting touchdown runs of 3 and 1 yards from Lunsford sandwiched around Felton's punt return.

Yuma broke that scoring run on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Josh Hall to T.J. Gardener, but the Knights didn't allow the Criminals any more quality chances.

The final points for St. Mary's came on a 3-yard run by Eric Briscoe that was set up by a 34-yard pass from Greg Gonzales to Felton.
