Zane Zamenski will not return as Corona del Sol football coach next season, ending a turbulent one-year stint at the school.

In a statement released by the Tempe Union High School District on Wednesday, Zamenski's removal was "in the best interests of the students and school," and that the Corona administration looks forward to beginning the search for a new head football coach for the 2011-2012 season in the near future.

Zamenski will continue to teach physical education and health classes at the school for the immediate future.

After three years at Phoenix South Mountain, Zamenski was hired in February to replace longtime coach Gary Venturo, but was investigated twice in the past nine months for allegations of inappropriate conduct and making lewd comments toward players. He retained his job in August after the first investigation confirmed the comments but was placed under what district superintendent Steve Adolph referred to as a "no tolerance policy."

More allegations surfaced last month, and the district solely conducted the most recent investigation.

A district spokesperson said Adolph was unavailable to comment on Wednesday.

The Aztecs were 1-10 this season.
