Chandler Valley Christian, the top seed from the East Region, made an early exit from the 1A/2A/3A boys state soccer tournament Friday at the Tempe Sports Complex.

The Trojans lost 3-1 in a firstround match against Wellton Antelope, the fourth seed from the West Region. Antelope advances to play Safford (which beat Tempe Prep 6-0) at 2 p.m. today at the Tempe Sports Complex.

In other 1A/2A/3A boys tournament games involving East Valley teams, Fountain Hills advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-1 win over Goodyear Estrella Foothills. Yuma Catholic, the two-time defending state champion, beat Coolidge 4-1 and Chandler Seton Catholic lost 4-3 to Mohave Valley River Valley. In other first-round action, Tucson Pusch Ridge beat Phoenix Christian 2-1 in overtime, Glendale Northwest Christian beat Eloy Santa Cruz 8-4, and Sahuarita beat Phoenix Bourgade Catholic 3-1.

In girls action, Seton Catholic continued its dominance in the 1A/2A/3A tournament as the Sentinels easily advanced past Valley Christian 10-0.

Seton, which is going after its sixth straight title, will face Pusch Ridge at 4 p.m. today at the Tempe Sports Complex.

Also winning was Tempe Prep, which defeated Tucson St. Gregory 4-1. Tempe Prep will take on Sahuarita, a 3-2 winner over Fountain Hills, at 2 p.m. today in the semifinals.

Arcadia boys finish region perfect

David Carroll’s 11 points and 25 rebounds led visiting Arcadia over Coronado, 77-75, in an overtime thriller Friday night that allowed the Titans to wrap up a perfect 4A East Sky Region boys basketball season.

The win gives Arcadia (16-13, 10-0) the top seed for the region tournament.

Coronado’s Jamie D’Amaral scored 30 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Mickey McConnell’s 30-point night once again led Dobson to a win, an 80-62 decision over visiting Red Mountain. Kramer Knutson added 16 points for the Mustangs (19-5, 7-1 5A East Valley Region). Deonte Roberts scored 22 points for the Lions (10-12, 3-5). …

Hamilton (20-4, 8-0) got 24 points from Mark Selaya and 19 from J.J. Jackson in a 67-52 Fiesta Region win over host Mesquite. …

Phil Feinberg led Corona del Sol with 19 points as the host Aztecs (14-9, 4-2) hung on and beat Mountain Pointe 50-47 in a 5A Central Region game. Barrett Brown led the Pride (11-11, 1-5) with 22 points. …

J.C. Hall had 15 points as host Skyline beat Westwood 45-44 in double overtime in a 5A East Sky Region game. Ted Kook made one of two free throws after he was fouled with 12 seconds left to give the Coyotes the win. Kenneth O’Bannon led the Warriors with 23 points. …

Brock Fultz had 23 points as host Queen Creek beat Higley 70-59 in overtime in a 4A East Sky Region game. Zane Garcia hit a 3-point shot at the regulation buzzer to send the game to overtime for the Bulldogs (6-18, 4-6). Jake Gaylord led the Knights with 18 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Nikki Magnus had 12 points as visiting Seton Catholic beat Florence 67-47 in a 3A South Region game. The win clinched a share of the region title for the Sentinels (18-8, 11-1), who tied with Coolidge.

Megan Plichta had eight points and 11 rebounds for the Sentinels, who ran their streak to 13 straight years of either winning or sharing the regular season region championship. ...

Stephanie Ekstrand had 21 points to lead Valley Christian to a 56-30 rout of Scottdale Christian, as the Trojans (24-3, 13-0) finished 2A Metro Region play unbeaten. Anne Munsil had 10 points for the Eagles (6-7 region). …

Katrina Graham had 16 points and eight rebounds as host Desert Mountain beat Shadow Mountain 51-40 in a 5A Desert Valley Region game. …

Erinn Goodman grabbed a careerhigh 21 rebounds to go along with a game-high 16 points in Skyline’s 39-29 win over host Westwood. …

Sam Darley had 18 points as visiting Mesquite beat Hamilton 58-53 in a 5A Fiesta Region game. Melissa Spaich added 10 points for the Wildcats. Brianna Brown led Hamilton (12-10) with 25 points. …

Host Highland handed Chandler its first 5A Fiesta Region loss of the year, defeating the Wolves 61-52. Morgan Wohltman led the Hawks (18-8, 5-3) with 16 points…

Brooke Jackson had 24 points and 11 rebounds as host Mountain View (25-1, 8-0) beat Mesa High 72-48 in a 5A East Valley Region game.
