Junior fullback A.J. Willis scored the winning touchdown in overtime to help Tucson Desert View knock off visiting Queen Creek, 32-26 in overtime Friday night.

Davis Hollis led Queen Creek’s running offense, rushing for 127 of its 202 yards, but his only fumble of the game — in the extra period — was costly.

With the ball on the 10-yard line following Hollis’ fumble, Willis needed only two plays to get into the end zone and lift Desert View to victory.

Lee Abraham caught four passes for 79 yards and took a kickoff the distance for 99 yards for Desert View’s first touchdown.

Willis provided strong running and finished with 27 yards rushing. He also led the defense with nine tackles. Queen Creek cost itself with three fumbles, including one on a kickoff that set up Desert View’s first lead of the night.

“(Our kids) deserved that win. We haven’t even scratched the surface on just how good this team can be,” Desert View coach David Rodriguez said.
