I've never flown Allegiant nor been to Phx-Mesa Gateway. However, would like to know....is the airport security check the same as at SkyHarbor with TSA agents?? Or do Allegiant staff (and the other carrier there) or Phx-Mesa provide the checks?? My curiosity is piqued by prior "Gateway Activity" reports, for example late summer when the route to Pasco, Washington, is cut back or suspended, which generally coincides to a lower level of Ag jobs in that Mid-Columbia area. My real question is whether Phx-Mesa Gateway is the "gateway" for those illegally crossing the border through AZ to conveniently (and comfortably) get to another state and who is minding the check point?Apr 19, 2012
Based solely on the apparent Hispanic/Latino surnames of the 3 arrested for felonies, I have sincere questions for anyone that may have sincere answers: 1) Is this (cockfighting) the type of cultural experience we non-Hispanics are encouraged to embrace? 2) Where are the voices of those crying for accepting any and all things Hispanic/Latino into our culture when these types of arrests are made so everyone (whether here legally or not) knows without a doubt this is not acceptable behavior? 3) Are they "legal" residents of Chandler or only residing in Chandler? If they are only residing there, why does not the Tribune make that distinction? 3) If they are NOT legal, is this the type of "felony" Homeland Security gives a "free-pass" to so that they can remain in the U.S. and then provide them a work permit when released from jail? If they are here legally, is it the type of felony that gets them depoorted? 4) If they are NOT here legally, what are they doing for employment here to care for themselves and/or their families? Have they been through the E-Verify process? Are taxpayers supporting their households (wife/girlfriend/under-age chidren/parents) whether in the form of foodstamps, schools, medical, etc.? 5) Do they have work permits? If they DO have work permits and are arrested for a felony, does the work permit get cancelled or does it sit on the records, thereby limiting 3 others from having a chance to work legally in AZ?, Mar 5, 2012
10th venter: Where did you get your driver's license? The "red hand" I believe you speak of and the "countdown" are for the benefit of pedestrians crossing in a marked cross-walk to let them know how long they have to get to the other side before traffic flows. You can note that this marking is NEVER overhead/up above with the red-yellow-green traffic lights, but off to the side aligning with the pedestrian cross-walk, so it is NOT intended for a driver's benefit....although a considerate driver (especially one making a right turn) would pay attention at these intersections to ensure they don't run over foot traffic!!.Nov 27, 2011
State Sen. Steve Gallardo, D-Phoenix, says: "... since Arizona has only donated 10 percent into the fund, it proves that SB 1070 is not as popular as many think."
What Gallardo should have said is that so many hard-working/hardly-making-it Arizonans have been taxed to cover the drain on education, medical, police, city services, etc. etc.) by those here ILLEGALLY---all the while paying full share for their own family--- that they have none (or little funds) left to send to the SB 1070 defense accoiunt BUT they fully support SB 1070!!

Along the same line of possible fraud, how about the 8/24 AZ Republic "Investment in homes may pay off" Q&A. Here are lines from that Christopher Combs Q&A: "Our son will graduate from ASU next year. Last night he told me that, in the past year, he has borrowed $40,000 in student loans for down payments to purchase 3 homes in a Queen Creek subdivision......." It goes on to tell how $100,000+ profit is expected and the "parent" brings up whether the son is "over his head.".
My question: Just what govt agency decides "Student Loans" should be used in this free-for-all called the "Housing Market" free-fall??? And just what govt agency will be looking over this "student loan" file next year when the kid graduates ASU and is supposed to start repaying the student loan??Aug 27, 2011
I've read this story more than once and am still confused. Your title, as well as first line of the story, indicate the "CPS Worker" was arrested, yet no details are given to confirm whether Anjelica Jiminez is the baby's mother as well as the "CPS Worker." If, in fact, she IS a CPS Worker......COULD that possibly explain just where CPS workers failed the 6 year old boy and 10 year old girl recently killed by their family??? Just wonderin....if a CPS employee can't keep their own kids safe, just what do they do for "other" kids to substantiate abuse, and just what do they do on the job to justify their paychecks????Aug 24, 2011
If you take the time to print the "story," would it be too much trouble to include a few details??? What part of Mesa? Even general cross streets would be appreciated by any women reading thus. What time of day/night? If two men remain at large....are they both "large"???. Someone had to have seen them to know there are two men so some type of description must be available!Mar 3, 2011
I don't consider myself "slow" but, geez, couldn't there be a few specifics in this article to give a hint at just what was dismissed??
Each paragraph includes nothing but generalities: parts of Fed challenge'; portions of the law; most controversial; blocked parts of the law; while enforcing other laws.
Just WHAT was dismissed??

What would the study show if numbers were separated by "legal" Latinos and "Illegal" Latinos living in the US. And could figures be further broken down AMONG ALL GROUPS to compare longevity for those actually working as the "Everyday Joe" for a lifetime vs. those sitting back with the remote control as they get off their duff once a month to see if their Taxpayer subsidized auto-deposit was made?Nov 24, 2010
[sad] Does this "point system" deduct points from recently retired teachers that come back to the same position while they collect pensions? With the previously published figures that MPS total enrollment is down over the past few years, is there a "point system" to determine whether Administrator/Administrative positions are scrapped to allow more of the hard-pressed funding to get to the classroom?Nov 24, 2010
