The premise that all people who are wealthy worked for it is as false as the premise that all people who are poor are lazy. Many of the wealthy were born into wealthy families and never had to work a day in their lives. Some of them are hard workers, but certainly not all. In addition, Leon, the idea that "They never cut classes. They never got caught smoking dope. They were never expelled from school. They never partied in high school" is also ridiculous. I can think of many wealthy people who got busted for misbehavior and are still wealthy, including well-respected people, such as George W. Bush.
I am well-educated. I have bachelors degree from a respected school and I work hard to provide for my family. My husband has a masters degree from a respected school and he works hard to care for our children. Unfortunately our degrees are not in fields that pay well. We have never missed a mortgage payment, but greedy bankers caused our economy to crash, so now we are underwater on our mortgage. We are a family of 4 and last year our AGI was a little over $32,000. How dare you assume that we are not worthy of more?
If someone is making millions of dollars, surely they can afford to contribute to make our country a better place. Why wouldn't they want to?Nov 2, 2011
Are you a billionaire? No? Ok, then I think I will trust Warren Buffett's opinion before I trust yours.

Actually, onerebel, the problem is BOTH taxing the rich too little AND spending too much. And, if you are going to insult the intelligence of others, you should probably learn to spell first.
Good post, Rodini! :)Aug 15, 2011
Hello, headline writer? You might want to fix your spelling mistake. What the heck is inhuame?Jun 17, 2011
Juggernaut, didn't you read the article? The city's investigation determined: "Cota didn’t intend to be untruthful." So, he was cleared of the charges, but you think he should be fired anyway? Nice.
I think we should be grateful he will not sue the city, because it sounds like he has grounds to do so.May 5, 2011
Um... He's there. TODAY. How much quicker can he be?Apr 29, 2011
Leon: The bill was to stop ILLEGAL forclosures, as opposed to legal forclosures. It seems you missed the point.Apr 27, 2011
Everyone settle down. Don't you all get tired of being so angry all the time? Diebold's letter makes a good point, regardless of his political affiliation.Apr 27, 2011
And Leon, enough with the capital letters. We know you are crazy without all the yelling.Apr 27, 2011
Leon: No, it's not fair that we work hard and pay our taxes when rich individuals and corporations continue to enjoy tax breaks. Republicans insist upon continuing tax breaks for the rich and for corporations, even though the majority of Americans support raising taxes for the rich to help balance the budget. You can't cut all social services to balance the budget; you need to bring in revenue. There are people making millions each year and they should help this country out. Republicans are only concerned about keeping the rich, rich. They are in the pockets of the wealthy and they continue to pander to that demographic. Then they claim there is no money available. Ridiculous.Apr 27, 2011
