Or better yet, buy a Mac or use Linux on your PC. Neither is totally immune from viruses (nothing is), but being Unix-based operating systems, they are more secure by design.4 months ago
Rich said: "Arizona is the land of boom and bust. Cotton, Cattle, Copper and Consumption, all that's left of that is Sun City. And that is what's really cool about it. After your Construction, what's the next "C" Mark? Hope I'm not too old to find that out."
The next "C" is already here. It's "Corruption."4 months ago
Deddzone, many right-wingers now consider Reagan to be an apostate and a RINO, not a saint. Same goes for Barry Goldwater. Both committed the cardinal sin of attempting to actually work with the other side. Today's right-wingnuts treat the opposition as Enemies Of The State, who should be charged with treason (and they obviously don't know the Constitutional definition of treason), not worked with.5 months ago
Not only should Presidential term limits not be repealed, it should be reduced to one 6-year term. That would allow a President to do what he needs to do without having to worry about a reelection fight. A single 6-year term was first proposed by Rutherford Hayes in the 1870s, but it went nowhere (kinda like the rest of his Presidency).
Now, for those who want to see term limits for Congresscritters: Vote the bums out! Unfortunately, it doesn't always work. I've been trying to term-limit John McCain for years, but not enough people agree with me. ;-D5 months ago
@Accuracy - Being acting Governor doesn't count. This happens anytime the Governor leaves the state for any reason, something that can happen quite often. It doesn't count any more than George Bush's several hours as acting President did when Ronald Reagan was incapacitated.
But the term-limits clause in the state Constitution was approved by the People of Arizona in 1992. There is also a precedent for a Governor to not run after assuming a predecessor's term and then being elected on her own: Jane Hull.
Jan Brewer can bleat all she wants, but her term in office expires on January 5, 2015. Period. If she has a problem with reading comprehension, that's not our problem.6 months ago
Unfortunately, it's pretty much impossible to get enough signatures statewide to force a recall election. But that's exactly what will have to happen to get Horne out of there, unless the Feds come after him like they did Fife.6 months ago
Article 5 Section 1A of the Arizona Constitution, as amended in 1992 via Prop 107 says:
"The executive department shall consist of the governor, secretary of state, state treasurer, attorney general, and superintendent of public instruction, each of whom shall hold office for a term of four years beginning on the first Monday of January, 1971 next after the regular general election in 1970.
No member of the executive department shall hold that office for more than two consecutive terms. This limitation on the number of terms of consecutive service shall apply to terms of office beginning on or after January 1, 1993.
No member of the executive department after serving the maximum number of terms, which shall include any part of a term served, may serve in the same office until out of office for no less than one full term."
Note that last sentence. Nothing ambiguous here. It says what it says, and it says that Governor Waggyfinger is done on 1/5/2015. Any part of a term served is considered one term. She is now in her second, and final (at least until she sits out for 4 years, then runs again) term.
Raul Castro, Bruce Babbit, Rose Mofford, Fife Symington, Jane Hull, and Janet Napolitano could run for Governor again in 2014 if they so desired (of course, they most likely won't). Jan Brewer cannot.6 months ago

There are apparently some serious mental issues with this woman. Nobody in their right mind does something like this. I hope they don't have any kids since their parents won't be able to take care of them anymore.7 months ago
