The editorial piece ignores the true reason we would want someone with exceptional skills as president. Romney has proven leadership skills. There is no more disconnect with him than any other. It is writer opinion, nothing more. Does a board of directors hire a guy to turn around a failing corporation because he gets along with all of the employees or because he knows how to get the job done? As long as we elect people based on emotion and politicking we will never get the most effective leader unless he also is willing to play the game. Reason and logic say Romney is the right man with the right skills to lead. I have more confidence in his skills than the other candidates that have all been involved in the mismanagement that helped bring us to where we are today.Jan 25, 2012
How is it some council of unknowns has the authority to determine who is a Christian and who isn’t? How is it that they are the only ones authorized to determine what the Bible says or means? It seems that even theologians and biblical scholars don’t seem to agree on what it says or means some of the time.
Mormons are already accepted by the general public other than some that persist in believing the misrepresentations that this article typifies.
To say that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does not recognize the deity of Jesus Christ is a misrepresentation of fact. LDS believe that Jesus created the earth. They believe that all salvation stems from the events surrounding his life and death as taught in the Bible. Mr. H admits that Mormons believe Jesus is the Son of God. Wouldn’t a son share the deity of his Father if his Father is God? Mr. H is contradicting himself.
What LDS theology doesn’t recognize is the non-biblical doctrine of the trinity formed in councils of old that most modern theologians promote in their teachings. Mormons believe that man is created in the image of God as it states in the book of Genesis and in other places throughout the Bible.
Because of its incomprehensible nature, the non-biblical doctrine of the trinity allows man to fashion God however he wishes in order to suit his own preaching as it did for the councils that formed it. So I guess they can even say who is Christian and who isn't as they feel the need?

Tyranny doesn’t take hold in a nation where the power of the governed is with the majority of the people when that majority is supported by a moral foundation not imposed by government but by religion.
Tyranny occurs when power resides in a minority or possibly a single individual that view themselves as better able to dictate the affairs of society than the rest of that society. Tyranny results when a minority rules and the people become subject to the whims of that person or group.
While it has gained substantial acceptance in today’s society, homosexuality has never been viewed as an acceptable norm, especially as a basis for marriage.
Proponents of its acceptance describe those against it as homophobic to make seem as if some ill founded motive drives their opposition to it. This is a deceptive tactic and simply not the case. Often the opposite occurs as vitriolic comments spurn those who oppose it.
Society shouldn’t accept adultery or any other form of activity that detracts from the importance of fundamental principles given by God for our happiness. Every right we have as human beings revolves around how we view the act of procreation. That is after all how we get here. Is it sacred or not? If not then it only has entertainment value and everything goes. If it is sacred then we have a duty and accountability to God for how we use it.
The basic principles of respect that allow society to function to its highest ongoing objective and maintain order stem from how we view human intimacy. That in turn gives us opportunity to create new life and teach those children in the family the principles that allow for self discipline and in turn self government. In that light comes freedom to pursue the inalienable rights described in the Declaration of Independence.
Our rights are derived from the belief that there is a Creator and this is so according to the Founding Fathers and all who accept the basis on which they established this republic. The constitution was designed to protect those rights by keeping the power of government in the choices of the people, not a court, not a man or woman, and not a small group of men and women.
