Are you a senior or active adult who needs to learn more about services available in the community?
Few things seem more lonely than the image of an elderly person who is unable anymore to get out and do things. You can help by volunteering as a Friendly Visitor for the Assistance for Independent Living Program that serves homebound elderly in Mesa, Tempe, Gilbert, Chandler and Apache Junction.
Little things that most of us take for granted -- like being able to hop in the car and drive to an appointment - can be huge obstacles for elderly people who want to live on their own. The 18th annual Expo for Active Adults will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday at Mesa Convention Center, 201 N. Center St.
