Though she can be a little hesitant at first around strangers, the folks at AZ RESCUE say she’s quite the charmer and very affectionate. In fact, Luna will butt your hand to encourage lots of petting and ear rubs.
Whether it’s his foster parents or their dog or a cat, Triscuit, a 2-year-old Cairn terrier mix, just wants to be pals. The folks at AZ RESCUE say he splits his nights sleeping part of the time with his foster mom and dad and part of the night with their dog. At the dog park, he plays with all the dogs he encounters. And he’s even friendly to cats.
Luke may be a tripod cat, but that doesn’t stop him from chasing toy mice, batting wands or leaping from one level of his kitty condo to another. The folks at AZ RESCUE say it’s like someone forgot to tell this energetic 2-year-old that he’s missing a front leg.
At 10 months old, Cupcake still has kitten energy to spare. The folks at AZ RESCUE say she LOVES to play, whether it’s chasing a tossed ball or toy mouse or capturing a wand toy. But this sweetie is just as enthusiastic about cuddling up to a human and enjoying lap warming, brushing, petting, ear rubs, chin scratches and head massages. They say if you pick her up, she’ll snuggle up as close as possible – and may even drape herself around the back of your neck.
One of the “sweetest, loving dogs” the folks at AZ RESCUE had ever encountered, 9-year-old Hattie was in pretty bad shape when saved from the euthanasia list – battling an ear infection, infected mouth, arthritis, and more.
You’ve heard of lap dogs? Well, Iggy is the perfect lap cat. This 4-year-old feline loves to snuggle with his human companion as he drifts off to sleep. Any anything you can do to help him doze – give him some chin scratches, belly rubs, lots of petting – he will greatly appreciate.
When Maxie, a 2-year-old dachshund mix was rescued, she had already been a mom to several litters of puppies, was skinny, hairless, and scheduled to be euthanized. But the folks at AZ RESCUE took her in and today, Maxie is back on her feet, full of energy — and full of love to share. Referred to as the “kissing bandit,” Maxie loves other dogs and people, jumping into your arms to give you a kiss.
The phrase “Gentle Giant” has never been more fitting than with sweet Kosmas. Yes, he weighs in at 111 pounds but he is such a mellow and gentle boy. Typical to the breed, Kosmas gets along with anyone and everything.
A cat with a mustache? That’s the distinctive Nico, a 4-year-old black and white feline that AZ RESCUE says is “full of mystery, intrigue, and a whole lot of mischief!” But that mischief can sometimes work to your advantage for Nico is a skilled bug hunter who can catch a fly faster than the stickiest spider web.
Riley loves to stare right back at you, as if to say, “Hello, would you please rub my belly?” Yes, belly rubs are one of Riley’s favorite things. In addition to being handsome, Riley has excellent leash manners, rides well in the car, gets along with other dogs, and is a pretty mellow fellow. Once outside, Riley is happy to explore the yard, rolling on the grass, and looking for all the bugs and lizards that might be visiting. But once he’s had his exercise he’s content to lay on a dog bed or next to you on the sofa.
If you like Maine Coon cats, you’ll love Big Papi, a 7-year-old incredibly affectionate big guy who will follow you everywhere. He loves when you pet him and rewards your efforts by nuzzling your ear, snuggling close and revving up his purr motor.
Tawney, a 2-year-old fox terrier-Chihuahua mix, may well be the happiest dog on Earth. Consider the following facts: She loves people and greets them with endless kisses, wiggles like a worm when you pet her, enjoys lap-warming, and basically loves to snuggle her favorite people.
With her golden-brown eyes and fluffed out tail, 5-year-old Sophia is a true glamourpuss. She loves to have her gorgeous coat brushed – especially while lying on top of your chest on the couch, purring and kneading her paws.
Chelsea is a Dachshund mix who is currently in a foster home, but needs a forever home of her own. This affectionate gal with beautiful eyes would like a home with a person who likes to snuggle with her. She likes going on walks, playing with toys and romping with other dogs. Chelsea is house trained and doesn’t shed very much. She is a great companion with so much to offer.
The folks at AZ RESCUE say it doesn’t take long to become totally enamored by 2-year-old Penelope, a sweet pit bull mix with soulful eyes and a gentle disposition. She was rather shy when she was first rescued, but has since come out of her shell. Now she loves to be outdoors and take in the world around her.
What a little social butterfly Poppy is. She LOVES everyone. She is happy to greet every person or canine on her walks. Quickly flipping over for a belly rub — one of her favorite things. Actually, there’s not much that isn’t Poppy’s favorite thing. Poppy is a young gal with a lot of energy to burn. She will need a home with lots of daily activity to keep her mind and body busy. Walks, jogs, dog parks, hanging out at the local cafes all interest her. Signing up for a training class will be ideal for this youngster to learn a few more manners and to walk better on a leash.
Gulliver, a beautiful 10-month-old orange cat in the care of AZ RESCUE, is fun-loving and sometimes downright silly. But wave a kitty wand toy in his direction and the tiger – low growl and all – comes out for battle. Gulliver loves sparkle wands. He will chase them everywhere and then carry them off in triumph once captured.
