Over the past few years, while speculators drove up valuations dramatically and property taxes followed suit, the hue and cry of property owners begging for mercy fell on mostly deaf ears at the Legislature. Not a thing has been done to fix our broken property tax system.

The Maricopa County Assessor’s Office has rolled out new online maps that display information about property values, ownership and other data. The assessor’s site allows users to navigate a map while researching properties, with links to Google and Bing maps and street-view imagery. The new site also displays five years of valuation information, rather than the three years that had been provided before. The maps are going through a public testing phase through April and can be found at http://preview.mcassessor.maricopa.gov/maps/default.aspx.
