Here's the 4A East Sky softball all-region team:
Centennial junior Tess Simpson had been close before, capturing a second place finish in each of her first two years of state 5A-II competition.
Mitch Nay smacked a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third inning, to help host Hamilton to a 5-3 victory over Mountain Pointe.
In the 2007 5A-II state girls swimming championships, Centennial finished fourth and Ironwood fifth, pushing perennial power Tucson Rincon to third place.
