Elementary schools in the Chandler Unified School District will soon have security cameras. The governing board voted 2-1 on three contracts totalling $1.3 million to put a 12-camera system at each of the 29 K-6 schools. Two board members were out of town Wednesday, but there was a quorum with the three other members. Board members Bob Rice and Annette Auxier approved the measure. Board member David Evans voted against it.
The Chandler Unified School District governing board voted 5-0 Wednesday night to open The Academy at Knox Elementary School beginning with the 2011-12 school year in July. Nine empty classrooms at the school, 700 W.
