Ruth McLaughlin is worried her Sun City neighborhood has a problem with roof rats. “We have an infestation over here,” she said of her neighborhood near Peoria Avenue and Clair Drive. Colorful costumes and high-energy dancing are just a couple of the reasons the Utah Ballroom Dance Company’s “Simply Ballroom” presentation is thrilling audiences nationwide. Sun City West residents will get their opportunity to see the lifts, hundreds of costumes and variety of ballroom dances when the company performs at 7:30 p.m. March 14 in Palm Ridge Recreation Center, 13800 W. Deer Valley Road, Sun City West.
The widespread flu outbreak throughout Arizona apparently hasn’t hit the West Valley. Health officials say visits to area hospitals this year due to the spread of the flu have been typical as in years past and that they have only seen a handful of patients each week seeking treatment for the airborne illness.
