Our legislative session wrapped up this year on April 20, in exactly 100 days. This is the earliest adjournment in more than a decade. Despite the relative brevity, it was the most productive session in my seven years at the state Capitol.

A daylong session, “Invocations to the Goddess — A Day of Renewal and Embodiment,” will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Shrine of Holy Wisdom, 4625 S. Ash Ave., Suite J-19, Tempe.

State lawmakers worked late into the night Wednesday to wrap up this year’s legislative session, passing a handful of bills that aim to improve the Valley’s air quality, end the practice of government tax giveaways to lure businesses, and provide more benefits to workers injured on the job.

The Arizona Legislature ended the 2006 session early Thursday morning after deciding to take a few controversial, previously unresolved issues to the voters in the November election.
