    Tempe’s YMCA branch is one of four in the Valley set to get solar panels next year in an effort to reduce energy costs. The panels are projected to reduce electric use by 21 percent at the Tempe location. The panels are manufactured by German-based Centrosolar America, which has a U.S. office in Scottsdale.

    Salt River Project and Colorado-based Juwi Solar Inc. have signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for 19 megawatts of solar photovoltaic energy from a facility to be built in Queen Creek. SRP will purchase all of the solar energy produced at the Queen Creek power plant, which is expected to be online by the end of 2012.

    Arizona Public Service Co. is seeking proposals from solar developers and installers to build a 17 megawatt photovoltaic facility financed through the utility’s AZ Sun Program. Project must employ commercially driven technology. The new solar facility, expected to be completed in 2013, will be owned and operated by APS and will provide electricity to an estimated 4,000 Arizona homes. A bidder’s webinar will be held Oct. 12.
