Mesa Presiding Judge Matt Tafoya wants a prominently displayed city courthouse with a traditional look that would leave no doubt to its purpose and bring civic pride to the community.
CHANGE OF VENUE: The new Mesa Municipal Courthouse is set to open Feb. 22 and this Friday the old courthouse will close down.
Mesa Municipal Court will be shutting its doors for a week to move locations. The final day of operation at the old courthouse at 245 W. Second St. will be Thursday and doors will open at the new building at 250 E. First Ave. Feb. 22.
The Mesa City Council voted 4-3 Monday to raise the city’s cultural impact fees, and a homebuilders group is threatening litigation in response.

Animal rights activists and residents of a Mesa neighborhood, where cats have been disappearing alive and reappearing dead and mutilated, are angry at animal control and the Mesa Police Department, saying the charge against the suspect does not fit the crime and they are calling for the ouster of an animal control officer.
