  1. article Letter: Governor not an embarassment, but others are

    Wednesday, February 1, 2012 9:48 am

Gov. Brewer is NOT an embrassement to Arizona. You, your paper is the embrassement, President Obama is an embrassement to the United States. At least you, your paper and Obama are on the same page - the lies you spew, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

  • article Letter: Believe in a tolerant America

    Tuesday, November 13, 2012 6:02 pm

I voted from abroad for the first time in almost 30 years of voting. I watched with trepidation and hope from abroad.

  • article Letter: With election over, now what?

    Friday, November 9, 2012 11:59 am

As the red states dry their eyes and lick their wounds, we find the people have spoken. Like it or not, Barack Obama is again our president. How can we help this president succeed so we do not continue in this horrendous gridlock.

  • article Letter: Obama, Clinton, didn’t have military careers, either

    Tuesday, October 9, 2012 1:30 pm

Charlie Osburn seems a bit one sided when he discusses how Mitt Romney failed to serve in the military when all he had to do was sign up with him in 1969. I guess Charlie had not heard that Bill Clinton failed to sign up and used college deferments to avoid the draft. Maybe it will come as a surprise to Charlie that Barack Obama decided against joining the military as well. If Charlie honestly thinks non-military service disqualifies a candidate for the Presidency, he probably should not have voted for Clinton or Obama. I do want to thank Charlie for serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He and I are brothers. I served with Howe Co. 3rd Battalion 1st Marine Regiment in the Korean war.

  • article Letter: Were politics at play in SB 1070 ruling?

    Saturday, July 7, 2012 9:11 am

The decision of the Supreme Court regarding Arizona trying to defend itself from foreign attack, smacks of political pressure. It is my “over the top” thought that Obama insisted on this victory or else the mandatory aspect of Obama Care would stand. I think that Justice Roberts felt that the repeal of mandatory health insurance was more important than Arizona’s right to protect its borders. I would love to subpoena all of the Justices to find out how much of their decision making relates to the US Constitution and how much is determined by loyal liberals doing the bidding of Barrack Hussein Obama II.

  • article National bill regulating youth agricultural jobs pulled

    Tuesday, May 1, 2012 3:47 pm

The United States Department of Labor has withdrawn a proposed bill that would have affected children under the age of 16 who work in agricultural jobs, an action praised by the Arizona Farm Bureau.

  • article Letter: Obama saved Brewer time in Law School

    Tuesday, January 31, 2012 10:17 am

"It was as though President Obama thought he would lecture me and I would learn at his knee," Gov Brewer said. "He was patronizing." No, Jan. In response to your writing a book called "Scorpions for Breakfast, My Fight Against Special Interests [getting kickbacks from friends who run privately managed state prisons] Liberal Media [who report on those kickbacks] and Cynical Politicos [who call you out for your brain freezes]" you got a lecture on Constitutional Law from a Constitutional Law professor. The President did you a favor. Enroll in law school and you'll get such lectures on almost a daily basis. Getting that lecture in private beats getting it on the tarmac or through the liberal media!

  • article Letter: Media bias in full force for Brewer-Obama rift

    Saturday, January 28, 2012 12:04 pm

On the way home, I listened to the radio report of the interaction between President Obama and Gov. Brewer. I also heard an on-air interview with Gov. Brewer.

  • article Letter: Obama depriving social security fund

    Tuesday, December 27, 2011 7:48 pm

Fact: 47 percent of the households pay no federal Income Tax! Obama’s 2011, one-year employment tax reduction, will deprive our social security fund of $119 billion. If Obama is allowed his way, HE will do the same thing in 2012 for another $105 billion shortfall. Borrowing money from China to give foreign aid, to send us stimulus checks and to reduce our payments into social security is insane. Our national debt may be staggering, but it is dwarfed by our existing obligations to social security and government pensions. We can’t survive four more years of calculated sabotage to our economy that has drifted into a failed socialistic European model. Anyone — and I mean anyone — but Obama in November!

  • article Letter: Obama administration makes Education a top priority

    Tuesday, May 14, 2013 4:05 pm

America has always made a commitment to putting a good education within reach of anyone who is willing to work for it. The promise of a good education for everyone is part of what makes America great. As a person who works in the high tech industry, I am deeply committed and concerned about the success of all students.

  • article Letter: Supposed White House call for Missouri name list a test

    Sunday, April 28, 2013 2:51 pm

I now believe, because of what happened in Missouri recently, that expanded background checks are simply a federal back-door universal gun registration perpetrated by the Obama administration. I am totally opposed to it.

  • article Letter: Another Carter in the White House

    Thursday, September 13, 2012 3:29 pm

Looks like we have another Jimmy Carter President in the White House. Barack Hussein Obama has been kissing up to the Muslim world since he became president. Could it be from his Muslim childhood in Indonesia? He hardly had a “Yankee Doodle Dandy” childhood. His parents met at a Russian language class in the 1960s at the University of Hawaii (now who studied Russian back in those days, Marxists maybe?). On one of his first overseas trips as president he meets the King of Saudi Arabia (Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques) and gives him a full bow from the waist. No other president has bowed down to any head of state in our history. Then Obama apologizes to the Muslim world for America’s past “transgressions” at the University of Cairo. Yes, Cairo, where our U.S. Embassy was overrun. What does the Obama Administration do? It issues another “apology.” “The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts of misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims...”

  • article Letter: President’s plans not working, spending wasteful

    Tuesday, July 10, 2012 3:12 pm

Eighty-two-thousand instead of 120,000 this week. One million Americans have given up even looking for non-existant jobs. Obama promised that his stimulus package would keep Unemployment down below 8 percent. The White House and the Democrats in the Senate and Congress said the stimulus would lower unemployment to 6 percent. Folks, we have an America in “free fall.” An America saddled with a $15 trillion Obama deficit. An America headed for the “poor house”, a third-world economy.

  • article Letter: President acted like a spoiled child

    Friday, February 3, 2012 8:31 am

Well, we have seen 10-plus assorted letters to the editor, columnist's columns and Vents all portraying the president as a victim of a horrendous insult. What a hoot?

  • article Letter: Letter only tells part of the story on the economy

    Sunday, March 10, 2013 11:17 am

In the March 6 edition, Mr. Rod Livdahl presented a lively and articulate apology for the tax/borrow/spend insanity running amok in our country. The presentation lacked only one component of importance—accuracy.

  • article Letter: Don’t fall into reactionary trap

    Tuesday, February 14, 2012 10:43 am

I agree with the title of the letter from Dale Whiting: It isn't really a question of choice regarding President Obama's fiat to penalize religious institutions.

  • article China clay artisans teach Gilbert class

    Monday, November 20, 2006 2:35 am

Yixing, China is known in many parts of the world for its teapots, made from a unique clay found in the region. Growing up in Yixing, making clay teapots came naturally to Junya Shao.

  • article The Vent: Feb. 22

    Wednesday, February 22, 2012 8:43 am

"Well our local Liberal-Progressive-Democrat Anti-Conservative ‘adult newspaper' finally ‘outed' Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. The paper had been hinting at him not being married for some time now. Funny, they never went after a certain Democrat governor all the years that she was in office. It seems that our local newspaper and TV media have different reporting standards for liberals than they do for conservatives."

  • article The Vent: Feb. 1

    Wednesday, February 1, 2012 9:27 am

I don't understand WHY we have to be so concerned about the Latino vote.. Does Mexico get concerned about the American vote at their elections?

  • article The Vent: Feb. 17

    Friday, February 17, 2012 9:51 am

"So someone thinks Indians live on handouts? Did you study history? The government forced Indians onto that land through treaties of which they broke."

  • article Our View: On behalf of government transparency — local and national — this ‘Sunshine Week’

    Wednesday, March 13, 2013 10:05 am

The American Society of Newspaper Editors dedicate this week each year as Sunshine Week. Its purpose is to remind Americans that public officials must conduct public business openly for all to see.

  • article Emperor Obama seeing a little rain fall

    Thursday, January 19, 2012 3:28 pm

Much like one of his predecessors, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Barack Obama has all but declared war on the United States Supreme Court.

  • article Latest moves prove Obama has strayed from transparency pledge

    Wednesday, January 18, 2012 4:41 pm

We all remember President Obama's campaign promise of "transparency" in government. Just a day after he was inaugurated as our 44th President of the United States, he promised us a new era of "openness in the government."
