    Traditional Irish dances began with the druids, then evolved over thousands of years through the influence of other cultures. But Irish footwork didn’t become an international sensation capable of selling out shows in more than 65 countries until Michael Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance” hit stages. Perhaps the most famous dance extravaganza of recent memory, the story of love and war — told through dance — is based on Irish folklore and set against a backdrop of traditional and modern Celtic music.
