Incoming attorney general Tom Horne has chosen as his first official target in combatting crime in our state the dangerous Mexican-American studies classes in Tucson schools. By the very nature of their work — to protect the innocent from those bent on harm — police officers must sometimes use deadly force. And when a suspect lies dead in the aftermath, it is also the nature of police work to be second-guessed: Did the suspect really pose a deadly threat? Could police have avoided bloodshed?
PHOENIX - A federal appellate court on Thursday blocked enforcement of a 2004 state law requiring Arizona voters to present identification when casting ballots and to submit proof of citizenship when registering to vote.
