Knox Elementary School will require school uniforms beginning this fall. Chandler Unified School District Governing Board members voted 4-1 in favor of the requirement Wednesday night.

The Chandler Unified School District governing board approved a plan Wednesday that will transition Knox Elementary School into the Knox Gifted Academy over the next few years.
The Chandler Unified School District is looking at possibly repurposing Knox Elementary School. The district may look at creating a self-contained gifted school or developing some niche classes such as STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) or arts classes.
Third-graders in Laura Grunewald’s class at Chandler’s Knox Gifted Academy were given a task Monday. Using a limited number of sticks, small cups, paper clips, paper and tape, they were to design a device that can hold three plastic balls 6 inches above the ground.
Demand is so high for the Knox Gifted Academy in Chandler that the district is recommending converting the entire campus to that program once this year's kindergartners complete sixth grade.

New computers are on the way to schools throughout the Chandler Unified School District. The district’s governing board recently approved purchasing 1,000 new computers to replace aging models.
Chandler Traditional Academy-Goodman Elementary School, 2600 W. Knox Road, Chandler, will hold its final campus tour 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
Kids Express, Chandler Unified School District's on-site, before- and after-school program for children ages 5-12, is accepting registration for the 2011-2012 school year. Students attending Erie and Hartford will be transported to Knox Elementary School. Students attending San Marcos and Galveston schools will be transported to Frye Elementary School.
