    Noting the short notice given to the community about a vote to close Gilbert Junior High School, the district governing board decided Tuesday that the school will close for the 2014-2015 school and a transition team will come up with a recommendation about what happens next school year.

    Gilbert Unified School District elementary and junior high school registration will be July 6-22. Parents can register their children for the 2010-2011 school year. Registration will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Highland Park Elementary School, 230 N. Cole Drive. Families who do not reside within the boundaries of the Gilbert district can complete an open enrollment application at that time as well. To register for any Gilbert elementary or junior high school, bring a child's birth certificate, immunizations record, and a parent or guardian's proof of residency (a utility bill or other bill noting a name and address). High school registration is taking place at the individual campuses, which are open during the summer.
