The Draft Environmental Impact Study (DEIS) for the South Mountain Freeway was released on April 26, but as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) continues to study putting the freeway down Pecos Road a group of Gila River Indian Community Landowners are stuck waiting for answers as their initiative — which could make it possible for the freeway to go on tribal land — is stalled by the Tribal Council.
Work has started on a project to add a pedestrian bridge over Loop 101 (Price Freeway) in Chandler, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Construction of the first segment of State Route 24, the Valley’s newest freeway, remains on schedule for completion by the end of the year, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The pedestrian bridge, located north of Chandler Boulevard and south of Ray Road, will provide local residents with a new pathway for crossing over the freeway and link to local bicycle lanes on either side of Loop 101.

Several freeway-improvement projects in the Valley will require closures May 3-5, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternate routes while the following freeway closures are in place this weekend:

Freeway improvement work in the Phoenix area will require closures or lane restrictions this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, consider alternate routes and allow extra travel time while the following weekend restrictions are in place:
