Every resident of Fountain Hills will be an ambassador this coming week. The town is welcoming its most prominent guest from a foreign government: Ruben Rochi, El Salvador’s minister of tourism.
Despite five failed state trust land auctions since August — including two on Thursday — Arizona Land Department officials are still hopeful about plans to sell 1,030 acres in Apache Junction in December.
When a prime chunk of Fountain Hills desert land goes on the auction block next month, three of the Valley’s top developers seem content to sit out any bidding war. And their reluctance comes even after a drastic discount.
