    I pity any building that has to stand in front of the Superstitions. Few, if any, man-made structures could pull the eyes from those fabled rocks, which seem to rise in front of you as you drive out of Apache Junction on state Route 88.

    Depending on who you ask in Mesa’s Apache Wells neighborhood, the brown, retro-style building with the UFO domes on top is either a run-down monstrosity that deserves to be torn down or an old building that should be renovated.

With the official start of summer only about a month away it's time to pack up the car with some road music, a variety of munchies, cold drinks and maps, and hit the open highway for a place where you don't see those funky heat mirages rising off the blacktop.
