    Nervous Dobson High school graduates wait for the commencement ceremony to begin, Thursday, May 28, 2010 in Mesa. Thousands of East Valley graduates are finished their high school careers this week. The Gilbert Unified School District’s four high schools with seniors saw about 2,765 seniors don a cap and gown. The Mesa Unified School District saw about 4,100 seniors graduate Thursday from the district’s six comprehensive high schools and the East Valley Academy. The Queen Creek Unified School District saw 420 seniors graduate from its one high school, Queen Creek High, Thursday evening. Higley Unified School District saw 524 seniors graduate, including the first graduating class from Williams Field High School. Chandler Unified School District’s high schools will hold graduation this week. The district is on a modified year-round schedule.

    Dobson High School students, teachers and staff struggled to cope Monday with news that sophomore Raegan Pride, known to his friends as “Rae Rae,” had been shot and killed over the weekend outside a Mesa restaurant and nightclub just a mile west of campus.
