For more than three quarters Friday night, it looked like more of the same for Corona del Sol.
In a game full of offense and errors, it was a defensive gem that helped Gilbert stay in the winner’s bracket of the 5A Division I state baseball tournament.
A pair of Gilbert schools tried to concoct a formula Saturday afternoon to knock Tempe Corona del Sol from the ranks of the baseball unbeatens. But as eight other schools found out, there's just no beating the Aztecs at present.
