An election complaint was filed this week in Gilbert alleging a committee seeking to recall Mayor Steve Berman violated election law by printing signs before it was legal.

"Chivalrous," "gentlemanly" and "positive" are words the Gilbert Town Council candidates have used to describe their election campaign, which enters its final week today.

Gilbert voters will decide the fate of a property zoned to accommodate a "big-box" store during a special election this fall.

It pays to be a Gilbert incumbent.

The chairman of a political committee formed to push a recall of Gilbert Mayor Steve Berman has filed a complaint with the town charging the mayor with violating state campaign finance laws.

Gilbert district schools will continue to offer free, full-day kindergarten next school year following a vote Wednesday night by the governing board.

Gilbert should not raise its sales tax or ask voters to approve a primary property tax. Wal-Mart does not belong next to the municipal complex. The town’s sign code should be revised.

The Gilbert Unified School District will hire a facilitator to help gather information about what qualities the community wants in its next superintendent.
