The Chandler Unified School District is moving forward with plans to create a college preparatory school this fall by hosting its final informational meeting Wednesday.

Latin students at Desert Vista High School in the Tempe Union High School District rose early one November morning and participated in the MS Walk at the Phoenix Zoo. Dressed in togas, they joined fellow Latin students from Chandler Preparatory, Scottsdale Preparatory, Glendale Preparatory, and Xavier and Brophy college preparatories to raise money for multiple sclerosis research. In late October, the students also participated in the Autism Walk at Tempe Town Lake and sponsored a collection for the Arizona Animal Welfare League.

CHAMPIONS: The Rev. Harry \"Dutch\" Olivier celebrates Dec. 3 with Brophy College Preparatory players during the team’s victory in the state football championship. Olivier, the team’s chaplain, has long been a fixture on the sidelines.
Sara Elizabeth Matsumoto of Ahwatukee Foothills was named to the dean’s list at Washington University in St. Louis for the fall 2011 semester. Matsumoto is a graduate of Tempe Preparatory Academy and is enrolled in the university’s college of arts and sciences.

Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition. One of the semifinalists is Mark Miller of Ahwatukee Foothills. Miller attended St. John Bosco Catholic School from its opening in 2001 (first grade) through 2009 (eighth grade). He is currently a senior at Brophy College Preparatory school in Phoenix.
