Instead of ducking bullets in the Afghan Kush, how about helping at a Veteran’s Administration hospital or clinic? Instead of swatting tsetse flies in the Sudan, how about helping out at the local free clinic or Native American reservation? What about that old truism that “charity begins at home”?
