• Double (or triple or more) threats: Several East Valley athletes enter the state track and field championships leading their respective divisions in multiple events. Among the girls, Desert Vista’s Dani Jones (800, 1600, 3200), Hamilton’s Ashlee Moore (100 hurdles, long jump, high jump), Chandler’s Ky Westbrook (100, 200), and Chandler’s Bianca Finn (shot put, discus) are expected to take multiple trips to the awards podium. On the boys side of things, Mountain Pointe’s Paul Lucas (100, 200, 400, long jump), Corona del Sol’s Nathan Rodriguez (800, 1600, 3200), Hamilton’s Beau Eggers (shot put, discus), and Campo Verde’s Lucky Schriener (1600, 3200 in Div. II) will be going for more than one gold medal.
Coming off tournament wins in the Catalina Foothills and Brophy invitationals, respectively, Hamilton boys volleyball coach Jeff Bader spoke about his team’s championship aspirations, winning tournaments and having one division for 65 schools in Arizona.

Here's the schedule for the annual Ojo Rojo cross country invitational on Saturday morning (Sept. 21), one of the larger fall gathering for high school runners during the fall.
In a battle of Arizona high schools, Brophy edged out Desert Vista for the Antigua Invitational boys golf team title. Led by senior Sam Triplett (70-70-14), who took second place individually, the Broncos squeeked out a two-shot victory in a strong field of 24 teams, including 12 from outside of Arizona.
