Former civil rights lawyer Lynne Stewart exits Manhattan federal court following her sentencing in New York. The firebrand civil rights lawyer who has defended Black Panthers and anti-war radicals was sentenced Monday to nearly 2 years in prison
Is there a cover-up at the Department of Justice?
In response to Ron Weitbrecht's letter "The truth behind voter intimidation case," I looked further into his statement that the Black Panther case was dismissed on Jan. 7, 2009. What I learned was that career attorneys in the Justice Department's Voting Rights Section decided as early as Dec. 22, 2008, to seek charges in the New Black Panther Party case.
Sam Hornish Jr.’s old, yellow No. 4 Indy car, with black Pennzoil lettering on the sidepods and front and back wings, sat in the pit garage at Phoenix International Raceway last week.
“Why don’t they build the Barry Goldwater Library on the land at Mesa Drive and University? The parking lot at McDonald and First Avenue is the best place to park for most city events, especially if you need a handicapped spot. I hope the city is considering the additional parking and traffic the library will bring. I don’t want to pay for parking and light rail won’t help me.”
There seems to be some selective outrage as reflected in popular news. While the media obsession with publicity mongering Jackson-Sharpton’s kangaroo court of mob opinion drones on ad nauseum, some other items seem to miss the editors’ notice:
TUCSON — The first five offensive plays of Williams Field's game at Amphitheater resulted in first downs on each snap, not to mention a quick touchdown for the visiting Black Hawks and two strong runs for Amphi.
In response to the letter by Susan Leeper, “Corruption exposed,” Friday, July 16: A few glaring omissions must be filled before we begin accusing “the lazy, liberal, national media” of not reporting or the attorney general for not prosecuting the New Black Panther Party for alleged crimes committed in Philadelphia in November of 2008. Once the holes are filled, the reader may want to take the road to a different perspective.
It now has been more than six years since Stacy Ann Aragon went missing in Gilbert, and police again are asking for the public’s help in providing any leads or information about her disappearance.
When Kenny Mitchell transferred from Higley to Williams Field before this season, it took time for him to get fully integrated into the game plan.
After losing his second fumble, Williams Field running back Alex Howard walked slowly back to his sideline. Sullen. Fuming.
"Doesn't it strike anyone as odd that liberals fall all over themselves to hear what Hollywood has to say about society when they all have morals very similar to Charlie Sheen's?"
The 2008 presidential election was supposed to usher in a utopian post-racial America where race no longer has a seat at the table of national affairs; A place where once for all, Americans would have equal justice under the law. But, I guess we'll have to wait.
Floyd and Mary Beth Brown: These liberal media elites outraged by gun-bearing citizens showing up at Obama events have probably never used a gun in real life. Most Americans don't see firearms as a symbol of violence. Like our founding fathers, they see them as a tool for personal protection.
“Now that Mr. Pat has explained the Taliban, perhaps he would tell us why candidate Santorum constantly tells us about former President Reagan? Personally, I think he was too young to remember the ‘wonderful changes’ he made while president. Number one, he immediately fired all the air traffic controllers. Why? Because they were unionized. In my estimation, unions are necessary evils. And what about the law he passed called Fair Reporting? One could say or write about someone you didn’t like without punishment. That law helped the Fox stations.”
The justifiable outrage over the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., should give all Americans reason for pause. How could an unarmed young man carrying a bag of Skittles threaten gun-carrying neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, who was almost twice Martin’s weight?

In every presidential campaign, there will be an event that comes out of nowhere and blindsides the candidate. How the candidate responds is a fair test of fitness for office because life in the Oval Office is dealing with crises that are random and unfair.
The economy is moving toward a genuine depression. Unemployment ranges between 15 and 17 million. Homeowners are losing their property. Energy costs are going up, as is health coverage. The U.S. is experiencing the most disastrous environmental happening in its history (the BP oil spill). The violence in Mexico crosses over into the U.S. daily through our porous border along with a constant stream of illegal immigrants. The morale and confidence of the American public is at an all time low.
